Memorial Pool and Health Club
Memorial Pool and Health Club was the first phase of a two-phase project which was associated with the work at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. This shared-use facility included a new 25 metre, six lane indoor pool, a health club and community rooms.
The project is linked by an indoor 'street' to an existing enclosed arena. There is a visitors' viewing gallery looking down to the pool off the main entrance. The buff coloured brick building features a curvilinear roof with a semi-opaque clerestory window system. The interior of the building includes clear coat concrete block, mahogany doors and woodwork, a fir ceiling deck and warm earth tone colours.
The project received an Award of Excellence from the Ontario Association of Architects. It was a joint venture with Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc.
